The laboratory is a structural educational and scientific subdivision of the Faculty of Agrotechnologies and Environmental Use.
The main tasks of the laboratory are:
- conducting at a high scientific and methodological level, using modern methods of laboratory and practical classes with students of all levels of specialties: 201 “Agronomy”, 202 “Plant Protection and Quarantine”, 101 “Ecology”, 193 “Geodesy and Land Management” and direct involving them in research;
- realization of research works within the scientific topics of graduate students and teachers of the faculty in order to prepare qualifying diploma and master’s theses of students;
- conducting agrochemical and agrophysical studies of soil condition on the main parameters of fertility and providing recommendations for improving their quality;
- assessment of the effectiveness of fertilization and tillage systems in crop rotations or for growing individual crops;
- development of a fertilizer system for organic farming and its adaptation to specific economic conditions;
- studying the effectiveness of new promising chemicals and providing advice on agrochemical support of technologies for growing crops and reproducing soil fertility.
The laboratory is located in the classrooms №104a and №105a. The teachers’ workplace is equipped with a demonstration table and a classroom board, a device for the use of technical teaching aids, etc. The laboratory is equipped with educational and visual stands, technical teaching aids, sectional cabinets for storing devices, utensils, consumables and educational and visual equipment.
The laboratory operates on the squares and research facilities of the faculty, has the appropriate material support. It promotes scientific seminars, scientific conferences, meetings of the student scientific group “Farmer”, develops the necessary scientific and methodological materials for the educational process in accordance with current and promising areas of educational and scientific work of the university. On the basis of modern methods of monitoring and control of soil fertility “Assessment of ways of efficiency of use of the basic resources in agriculture of Sumy region in market conditions” is developed.
The laboratory is a base for laboratory and practical classes for applicants for higher education in educational programs 201 “Agronomy”, 202 “Plant Protection and Quarantine” and 101 “Ecology” in the following disciplines:
- Methods of agrochemical research;
- Agrochemistry;
- Fertilizer application system;
- Agroecological bases of fertilizer application;
- Ecological bases of fertilizer application;
- Soil science;
- Agriculture;
- Environmental problems of agriculture;
- Adaptive farming systems;
- Forecasting and programming of crop yields.
Applicants master the technical means to measure the basic parameters of technological processes, determine in the laboratory the provision of soil with mobile forms of nutrients, the content of nutrients in plants in the main stages of their ontogenesis and adjust fertilization based on test results. The obtained results are used for development and substantiation of ecologically safe system of application of fertilizers in adaptive-dynamic crop rotations. In the process of learning analyze the information obtained from various sources, interpret it and draw up in the proper form.
Agricultural enterprises, farms, gardeners are offered cooperation:
- providing information and consulting services to assess the condition of arable land and crops;
- providing recommendations on soil protection monitoring;
- monitoring and economic evaluation of sloping and plain lands for the purpose of their rational use;
- development of soil protection technologies for growing crops, improving the phytosanitary condition of crops, reducing costs and increasing the profitability of cultivated crops;
- providing advice on the assessment of the fertilizer system in crop rotations and separate agricultural crops ;
- providing recommendations on the technology of fertilizer application to increase crop yields and improve product quality based on modern soil and plant diagnostics;
- optimization and regulation of mineral nutrition of crops using rapid diagnostics of plants “Agrovector” PF 014;
- to establish ecological norms of mineral fertilizers from the point of view of deficiency of the basic elements of fertilization.
